Autumn News!
We’ve had a busy busy Summer here at Lydcott Glamping, and as we move into Autumn, we wanted to share with you what we’ve been up to and our upcoming plans for the year ahead.
One of the biggest things we’ve achieved behind the scenes is to build and establish our brand new Lydcott Social space, which means we have lots of exciting events planned over the coming weeks and months. We’ve been recognised with yet more awards, had the pleasure of hosting the most fabulous and romantic wedding proposal, and even completely overhauled our pricing to hopefully enable more people to come and stay with us outside of our busy & more expensive peak weeks. (We hate our gorgeous cabins sitting empty!)
Oh, and we now even provide room service!

Lydcott Social
Not ever wanting to stand still here at Lydcott Glamping, Rich and I are always thinking and planning what we can do next to enhance the experience here for our guests – and also to give our more local neighbours a way of enjoying our beautiful location too from time to time.
What better way than to create a space for our guests to socialise on site, whatever the weather, and at the same time have an opportunity to sample and enjoy some of the fabulous food and drinks that Cornwall has to offer.
Having obtained our alcohol premises license, we set to work to build a structure that is weatherproof and flexible enough to be usable by guests on site at any time to come together to socialise, play games, share food and enjoy the sea views together – as well as somewhere we can start to host more of our popular Cornish Fireside Feast events, and even enter the world of hosting rustic intimate weddings.
With a capacity for up to 40 people we can’t wait to see how this new enterprise takes off for us and we look forward to welcoming more guests and neighbours alike in the near future.

13th October – The very first Sunday Social at Lydcott Glamping!
To celebrate the opening of Lydcott Social, we’d like to offer everyone a free freshly baked scone with jam and clotted cream. From 3pm.
Sun 27th October – Halloween Sunday Social at Lydcott Glamping
Pumpkin Carving, Apple bobbing, Mulled Cider, as well as our usual Cornish stocked bar, games, sea views, bar snacks. Tickets £7.50 which includes halloween activities and a £5 bar voucher
Sun 3rd November – Firepit Session Sunday Social at Lydcott Glamping
Smores, Hot Chocolate, Rum Hot Chocolate, as well as our usual Cornish stocked bar, games, sea views, bar snacks. Tickets £7.50 which includes smores and a £5 bar voucher
Sat 23rd November – Firepit Feast at Lydcott Glamping
Enjoy exquisite locally sourced ingredients cooked over open fires by fantastic local chefs at M2 Catering, live acoustic sets by Widegates’ own ‘Traka’ – a young and incredibly gifted up and coming local musician, as well as our usual Cornish stocked bar, games and sea views. Tickets are £45 which includes a 3 course menu and your first drink.
Sun 24th November – Flora Foraging & Wreath Making Sunday Social at Lydcott Glamping
Wreath making. Follow our foraging treasure hunt to gather your wreath materials from around the site. Mulled wine, as well as our usual Cornish stocked bar, games, sea views, bar snacks. Tickets £20 which includes a £5 bar voucher.
Room Service!
We also have a brand new online shop and room service – which we’ve set up for our guests to order extras in advance or during your stay.
Currently you can order Cornish tipples, Filberts luxury snacks, hampers or even ask us to do some laundry for you.
All our products are either Cornish, or as close to us as possible so we can truly stand by our ethos of supporting other local businesses.
When you book with us, we’ll even send you a voucher to put towards some extras for your stay.
More Awards!
We’re absolutely delighted to share that we are finalists once again this year in the highly esteemed Cornwall Tourism Awards – in not one but 2 categories: Glamping Business of the Year (we’ve won Gold in this category for the past 2 years running), and Wildlife Friendly Business of the Year (we were delighted to scoop Bronze last year, competing with all types of tourism business in Cornwall).
We are looking forward to swapping our wellies and Marigold gloves for our best bib and tucker at the awards event in Truro Catherdral 7th November, where we find out if we’ve won Gold, Silver or Bronze this year.
Fingers crossed and watch this space!
In addition to this, we were also surprised and completely blown away to discover that we had been nominated in the World Luxury Travel Awards! Voting has now closed and we find out on 20th October if we’ve also been recognised on the WORLD STAGE! Eek!!

Nothing is too much trouble
We absolutely love to go above and beyond to ensure that every detail is perfect for our guests – and we always ask if you have any special requests before you arrive.
We were absolutely honoured and delighted to be able to play a part in setting up the most perfect stage to get down on one knee for our recent guests in Prosecco cabin.
We were in contact for a couple of months, coming up with ideas and planning what we could do to make things extra special for our guest to pop the question. They wanted to propose on returning from a romantic meal out, so while they were out, we turned on all the fairy lights inside and outside thier cabin, added some romantic decorations, put some Prosecco on ice, some additional soft lighting and even lit their firepit for them, adding blankets and cosy fur seat covers to create the perfect romantic setting to come home to.
We were delighted to hear that everything went perfectly, and she said yes!
Congratulations to the newly engaged couple and we look forwaqrd to welcoming them back for their Anniversary!

Upcoming seasons at Lydcott
Autumn & Winter
Colder weather doesn’t mean you can’t still have an amazing experience here at Lydcott Glamping.
We get every weather – from crisp sunny Autumn days to storms blowing in from the sea, and even a sprinkling of snow sometimes if we’re lucky. The views from your cabin are spectacular this time of year and there’s still so much to do, but without the crowds.
Nights are darker which means stargazing opportunities are at their very best – and we even have stargazing and night vision binoculars to hire during your stay.
Our cabins are fully heated, you have your own kitchen and bathroom, and lots of books and games to keep you occupied if you decide to endulge yourself in a cosy duvet day in your cabin.
Christmas & New Year
Christmas and New Year are so magical here at Lydcott Glamping, and it’s a beautiful time of year here in Cornwall too.
If you’re thinking of escaping the usual traditions, then we’d love to welcome you here. With 7 cabins to choose from, whether you’re a couple looking for a romantic escape, or a family looking to make some new memories this year, we have the perfect accommodation for you – and we’re dog friendly too!
All our cabins are fully heated, with their own bathroom with shower, kitchen, outdoor area with your own firepit for late night stargazing and toasted marshmallows – and of course sea views from every window.
We have some fabulous pubs and restaurants for Christmas dinner nearby (whether you’re looking for a traditional roast or a Seafood Platter fresh off the daily boats), and lots of fabulous places to walk off the Christmas excess!. Many of our local beaches are dog friendly all year round, and we have the stunning South West Coast Path, and Minions for it’s stone circles and incredible views across Cornwall to name just a few places to enjoy Cornwall’s local beauty.
The Eden Project and The Lost Gardens of Heligan are fantastic to experience at Christmas, with light exhibitions, ice skating, and Santa at Eden which is amazing for kids and adults alike. Lots of fab National Trust Properties to visit nearby too.
Our cabins are tastefully decorated to give you some festive ambience, and we provide lots of games and things to keep you occupied if you don’t fancy venturing out.
We may even pop round with some complimentary mulled wine to toast the season.
New Year at Lydcott is whatever you want it to be – whether you want to escape the fireworks and find a peaceful haven for you and your dog, or join the fabulous NYE celebrations in Looe, we’re here for you.
This year Looe celebrations are set to be bigger and better than ever, with a FREE family disco, fancy dress competition and face painting along with a BBQ and Bar just a few paces away to watch the 6pm family Looe NYE Fireworks display – lighting up the skies over Looe.
From 7pm – Midnight – buy your tickets for a night of great music with a DJ and the fantastic band Black Out through to midnight -where you can watch the second fantastic Looe NYE Fireworks display to welcome in 2025.
